The majors in the Communication and Journalism Department will prepare you to engage in communication and journalism as a responsible human behavior that can change the world. These majors also provide you with opportunities to explore your personal values, develop your personal skills, and acquire techniques of insight and critical reasoning, all within SPU’s Christian environment.

Communication Studies

By majoring in Communication, you will develop practical skills that allow you to develop an informed perspective on the role of communication as a social, spiritual, intellectual, and artistic institution. Through this major, you can become a competent communicator of both the written and the spoken word.

 

Journalism

The Journalism major at Seattle Pacific University will educate, train, and prepare you to engage in journalism as a responsible human behavior, and help you to engage the culture and change the world through thoughtful and faithful use of your creative gifts.
